This guzheng is crafted by the renowned Japanese instrument maker Mitsuya Koto, known for their expertise in creating larger kotos. The family has a long tradition of producing string zithers, including the famous 80-string koto for Michio Miyagi in 1929. The design for this guzheng is provided by Zheng Art of Hong Kong.
The N801 "Rosy Agate" model is carved from a selected grade 40-year-old Japanese paulownia tree, air-dried for 5 years. The carved-out body is seamlessly connected to the bottom board. The back of the soundboard features hand-carved straight sound grooves, which ensure even sound distribution. The frame is adorned with Indian Padauk wood, enriching the tone.
This guzheng is equipped with Dunhuang professional B strings and Xuanguang Cambodian Rosewood bridges, delivering a full and rich sound. The bass is exceptionally deep, while the highs are bright and sweet with a long ring. The transitions across the strings are even and solid, providing the best sound quality among guzhengs.
